Karen has been working in Technical Project and Product Management for over 25 years. Over the course of her career, Karen has worked for notable companies such as MGM, Spelling Entertainment, Scripps Networks, Panasonic, Rockport, and the Rockefeller Institute. Since joining Pilot Flying J in 2017, she worked on executing and delivering IT projects ranging from public-facing websites to critical tools for Pilot Flying J’s Sales team.
As a lifelong technologist, Karen is passionate about highlighting women in technology and has been working with various groups to draw more women to technology at Pilot Flying J.
Karen holds PMP and Scrum Master Certifications.
Mrs. Inman has recently joined the TEAMHealth organization in Knoxville, TN as the Director, Clinician Compensation Administration Program. She is an engaged leader with 20+ years’ experience in IT Project, Portfolio, and Program Management. She has a passion for continuous process improvement, strategy development, and leading & developing high-performing teams. Mrs. Inman has stood up several IT and Enterprise PMOs that remain in operation today. She received her PMP credentials in 2000, her B.S. and MBA from Nova Southeastern University and she is an ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
Barry has nearly three decades of experience in the information technology (IT) and healthcare industries as a CIO, CTO, senior IT audit manager, and IT risk management consultant. He has performed and managed complicated HIPAA security reviews and audits for some of the most sophisticated hospital systems in the country. Barry is a visionary, creative, results-oriented senior-level healthcare executive with demonstrated experience in planning, developing, and implementing complex information-technology solutions to address business opportunities, while reducing IT risk and exposure. He is adept at project and crisis management, troubleshooting, problem solving, and negotiating. Barry has strong technical capabilities combined with outstanding presentation skills and professional pride. He is a prudent risk taker with proficiency in IT risk management, physician relations, strategic development, and employee team building.
Barry is a member of United States Marine Corps, Health Care Compliance Association, Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors, Healthcare Information Management Systems Society and Information Systems Audit and Control Association. He was an Honor Graduate in Systems Programming from the United States Marine Corps Computer Sciences School (MCCDC) in Quantico, VA. He is a Certified COBOL Programmer, a Certified Database Management Specialist, and a Certified Cyber Security Framework Practitioner.
Tim Purcell - Panel Moderator
Tim Purcell is the current Senior Director of the IT PMO and has been with PFJ for over 24 years. Tim currently leads the Program Management process for multiple and ongoing major initiatives at PFJ. Tim is a member of the PFJ EPMO governance leadership. He supports and helps choreograph key PFJ teams in the areas of Strategy, Communications and Leadership.
Previous responsibilities at Pilot include Senior Director of the Office of Change Management, Director of Strategic Excellence, Core Team member of the PFJ Ignite cultural effort and 20 years as a Director of Marketing that included Promotional planning, Creative Services, Deli Food development, Store Layouts, Product planograms, Billboard purchasing, Facility Revenue and more. Tim developed store level marketing training (1996), site by site POGs and store layouts (1999), the PFJ “Best Coffee on the Interstate” program (2003), myPilot loyalty program (2003), PFJs social media program (2010) and more during his tenure at PFJ.
Tim’s previous experience was in Marketing as VP of a chain of Convenience stores in New York. He has an AAS degree in Fine Arts earned in 1983. He is a board member on the Knoxville region of the Salvation Army and a former board member of Knoxville based the non-profit “The Joy of Music School”. He is married to Tami (24 years) and has 2 wonderful children (young ladies now!)
Dennis Hough - Panelist
Dennis Hough is the founder of Affirm Consulting and My Business Coach. Mr. Hough’s background as a degreed industrial engineer and business process expert grew to include responsibilities for executive leadership, production management, engineering, quality assurance and program development for diverse, multidisciplinary companies. John Jenkins - Panelist
John Jenkins is the manager of Regal Entertainment Group’s IT Project Management Office. Regal is headquartered in Knoxville, TN, and is the second largest theatre chain in the US. Regal has recently become part of the Cineworld Group of theatres, and the Regal PMO is transitioning to the Cineworld Group PMO, with oversight over CWG IT project work worldwide.
Mr. Jenkins has worked 30 years in the IT field, with 19 years of experience in IT Project Management. He has managed a changing and evolving PMO at Regal/Cineworld for 9 years. John received his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Tennessee, and MBA from Tennessee Tech. He earned his PMP certification in 2008, and is also ITIL and Scrum Master (SMC) certified.
Nicole Morris - Panelist
Nicole Morris, PMP, brings 15 years progressive leadership experience in fast-paced management consulting and federal government environments. Ms. Morris currently serves as a member of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) leadership team for the United States House of Representatives and reports to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), a House Official appointed by the Speaker of the House. The CAO is responsible for House operations to include House Technology, Cybersecurity, Financial, Furnishings & Logistics, Human Resources, Communications, Procurement, Campus Food, and Child Care Center services supported by its 700 employees.
In her role as Project Transformation Office (PTO) Director, Ms. Morris is responsible for building and leading a team of experienced project managers and business analysts who provide consultation to CAO business units and ensure PTO’s frameworks, tools, and recommendations remain relevant and valuable to the organization as it evolves. The PTO’s vision is to elevate the CAO’s ability to organize and implement service improvements through standardized and collaborative project management practices for the People's House.
Prior to establishing the PTO, Ms. Morris led large enterprise projects for the CAO to include several enterprise technology infrastructure upgrades and a multi-site data center migration. Most recently, Ms. Morris led the House’s transition from the 115th to 116th Congress for the CAO supporting the second largest freshman class in CAO history. Her team is currently writing a CAO Transition Playbook that documents the activities, stakeholders and schedules of the largest collaborative effort of the CAO into a consolidated and actionable format.
Outside of public service, Ms. Morris has consulted with Executive and Legislative Branch agencies for Booz Allen Hamilton and Deloitte on topics including enterprise project and program management, service management, technology strategy and architecture, and information security. Ms. Morris holds a bachelor’s degree from Franklin Pierce University and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. Ms. Morris has recently relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee with her husband and two children to escape D.C. traffic and spend more time on the lake with family.
Kathy Rollow - Panelist
Mrs. Kathy Rollow has more than 20 years of experience managing technical and programmatic activities. She currently works in ORAU’s Independent Environmental Assessment and Verification Program, serving as a program lead for business operations and director of the Atmospheric Turbulence & Diffusion Division.
Previously, Mrs. Rollow worked as the founding director of ORAU’s Project Management Office. In that position, Rollow established policies and maintain full operational responsibility for the office, facilitating best practices and serving as the catalyst for organizational and cultural implementation of project management principles.
Prior to joining ORAU, she served as a senior project manager supporting the U.S. Department of Defense in the areas of environmental remediation, investigations, characterization, and operation/maintenance for sites such as Erie Army Depot, Langley Air Force Base, and Culebra Island Site, Puerto Rico. She has also held positions supporting the National Security Agency and DOE at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Rollow holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor’s in management from Tusculum University. She is a certified professional project manager and is a member of the local and national chapters of the Project Management Institute.
