ETPMI February 2015 Chapter Meeting

Date:  Monday, February 23, 2015 (6:30 PM until 8:00 PM)

Location:  My Next Suite (123 Center Park Drive, #302, Knoxville, TN)

Topic:    Conflict Management

Guest Speaker:    Stacy Myers, Founder and President of Advanced Management, Inc.

Program Description:

A key Knowledge Area lies in Human Resources.  The associated Process Groups include Acquiring the Project Team, Developing the Project Team and Managing the Project Team.  And of course our success in any of these elements lies in our ability to manage the human element and manage any conflicts that inevitably arise.   Although taking the emotions out of the situation is often critical to defining the best path forward, most of us find this easier to acknowledge than to actually accomplish.

As a matter of fact, during the past five years there has been an 850% increase in workplace violence.  The Society for Human Resource Management reports that over half of employees that are terminated form their employment are terminated because of an inability to relate to those they were required to work with.   Conflict seems to be rampant in today's organizations.  This program will define conflict, examine some typical causes of conflict, and offer some proactive suggestions on how to address conflict in the workplace.

Plan to join us when Stacy Myers brings his presentation to ETPMI and provide with some tools to help us better address these types of issues in our projects.

Stacy is the founder and President of Advanced Management Solutions, Inc., a company that provides services which make business and manufacturing processes more profitable by managing a company's human resources more effectively.  Dr. Myers has had successful careers with A.E. Staley Corporation in Decatur Illinois and with Martin Marietta Energy Systems here in Oak Ridge.  He has served as a consultant and/or facilitator to over a hundred of the Fortune 500 companies including General Electric, John Deere, Consolidated Edison, Tennessee Valley Authority, Toyota, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Lockheed Martin. He has served as Chairman of the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce, and on the Boards of the East Tennessee Economic Council, Technology 2020, Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership, and the East Tennessee Economic Development Association.

Don’t miss it!!!!
