Abstract: We’ve all read about good team-building practices. We know that when we assemble teams, it’s advisable to select members and organize the team based on personalities and individual strengths and talents. But, what about the rest of us who inherit teams and don’t have the opportunity to hand-pick them? When people are assigned to a project or work team for a specific purpose based on their current role in the organization, how can you develop a high performing culture? How many of us have the opportunity to go out into the woods and have a team trust development day? The truth is that effective team building isn’t as wishy-washy and warm and fuzzy as we often think.
In the March ETPMI session, we’ll leverage Tuckman’s well-known team model of Forming, Storming, Norming, and Performing as a backbone for a teambuilding strategy and repertoire of tools, any of which can be employed immediately. We’ll uncover small, specific, adjustments that yield big team results, rooted in modern team-building models and sales approaches. Come see how tweaking daily and weekly work interactions can spark great progress in team performance. You don’t have to spend your time chasing project items and fighting fires. A better path awaits project managers who want to change the culture of their teams for better results and happier stakeholders.
