Abstract: During this session, we will present current industry Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality options and work practices. We will also provide the basic concepts of VR/AR technology and where it is going. The last year was a growth year for the VR/AR industry, moving now to the “extended reality” call tag. The questions remain where is VR/AR technology providing the best options today and where is it going? We will attempt to describe the potential future impacts for the VR/AR industry.

"Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality: How VR/AR is impacting our work practices" -Presented by Robert Milazzo, VP, Engineering, Spectra Tech Inc.
Mr. Milazzo has over 35 years of project management experience and direct program management experience on over $250 million in environmental remediation and hazardous, toxic, and radioactive waste contracts and oversight of 150+ staff. He is currently managing the $37M IDOE- Idaho small business management and operations contract over the past 4 years. In addition, Mr. Milazzo is managing the engineering contracts for Spectra Tech at DOE and DOD facilities nationwide. For USACE Mobile, Mr. Milazzo managed a $20M remediation project to provide soil remediation and closure efforts at four major environmental sites for the Former Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant, Chattanooga, TN. Mr. Milazzo oversaw remediation projects for US Army Iowa Army Ammunition Plant ($39M) including soil removal actions; in situ groundwater remediation; soil bioremediation; additional site characterization; and operation and maintenance of existing groundwater and landfill leachate treatment systems. At the Charleston Air Force Base, Mr. Milazzo served as program manager for several relevant tasks including underground storage tank removal, aboveground storage tank installation; investigation, removal, and demolition of solid waste management units; development of free-phase product recovery plan; environmental restoration, conservation and planning, compliance, and pollution prevention services. He is currently supporting the development of the Oak Ridge Enhanced Training Campus design requirements which will include Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality training options.
