August 2019 Joint Meeting: ETPMI and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)

Join your fellow ETPMI and ORNL peers to learn about Office Politics - Survival Skills for Project Managers.

When it comes to office politics, are you a victim, a player, or just an observer? Does it matter? We'll answer that question by discussing motivations, categorizations, and implications of office politics. You'll learn strategies to better understand, and respond to, office politics in ways that will help you, and your projects, to succeed, as presented by Mark Schaaf.

Mark's career in project management spans nearly forty years. His experience covers a wide spectrum of project roles including project analyst, project manager, project coach, and project management consultant. He has worked in a variety of industries spanning multiple continents and cultures, and has managed IT, software development, new product commercialization, and organizational change projects. Mark has created PM methodologies, maturity models, established PMO's, and served as a strategic advisor for the application of PM practices to multiple Fortune 100 firms.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, a Master of Project Management degree from the University of Sydney, and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate from Villanova University. He earned his PMP in 1993.

Mark recently retired from full time employment and is focusing on enjoying life and sharing his knowledge and experiences with others.
